This is a list of the bird species recorded in Macedonia. The avifauna of the Republic of Macedonia include a total of 335 species, none of which are introduced, accidental or endemic. Sixteen species listed are extirpated in Macedonia and are not included in the species count. This list's taxonomic treatment (designation and sequence of orders, families and species) and nomenclature (common and scientific names) follow the conventions of ''The Clements Checklist of Birds of the World'', 5th edition. The family accounts at the beginning of each heading reflect this taxonomy, as do the species counts found in each family account. The following tag has been used to highlight extirpated species. Untagged birds are commonly occurring native species. * (Ex) Extirpated - a species that no longer occurs in Macedonia although populations exist elsewhere __NOTOC__ ==Loons== Order: GaviiformesFamily: Gaviidae Loons, known as divers in Europe, are a group of aquatic birds found in many parts of North America and northern Europe.
